This is the best headphone adapter for my Google G1 phone I’ve found. The adapter connects to your phone and has a 3.5mm jack for any headphones you want to use, and a plug-in for a charger – so you can still charge your phone while using the headphones. This, to me, is worth the extra cost. Although there is a lot of static if you’re charging while listening to music, it’s still better than not being able to use your headphones at all while charging your phone. I’m buying another one now because this adapter actually broke on me. The headphone jack on all my adapters only have a life-span of a few months- eventually one side of my headphones will blow out, and on this particular adapter, I could not successfully re-solder the connection. I don’t think this was the fault of the manufacturer, as any other adapter I have bought eventually has this happen to it – I’m just really rough with these things, leaving them in places, rolling over them with my chair, and stepping on em…If you’re gentle on electronics, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Oh, and the headphones that come with this adapter are terrible. Well, just as terrible as the OEM ones. Use your favorite headphones and no worries.
Also, the adapter does have a mic mute button, which if pressed twice rapidly, will skip ahead to the next song when you’re listening to music. At least on the Google G1 phones. I wasn’t aware of that feature for the longest time, so I’m just saying this in case anyone else wasn’t aware you can do this. Definitely beats pulling my phone out of my pocket to skip ahead.
Last thing, if you plug the adapter into a USB connected to your computer, it will charge the phone, but you cannot transfer files over USB. To do that, you have to unplug the adapter and connect to the computer directly. I hope this helps!
