The chainsaw worked weel the first time I used it. The main thing to remember is that the 8 inch length of the saw is very short and is really only good for pruning small brances, not for cutting down trees or large logs for firewood.

I cut two very small branches, & it just stopped running, I did everything the manual said before using, then kaput! Now I set waiting for a replacement, another 8-10 days , by then there will be snow, cold, off shore things arn`t the same as made in the god “ole” USA. I hope the replacement will be fine, I purchased this saw based upon 40 great reviews, hmmm I wonder???

this saw will take longer to cut a 2×4 then using a hand saw, just a total waste of money,if you are able to cut more then 5 2×4′s on one charge consider yourself lucky

I would describe the Black & Decker 18V Cordless Chain Saw as a toy if it were any fun at all to use. Unfortunately, it is neither fun to use nor a real chain saw. It will put a nice score on the branch you’re trying to cut, but in the end you’ll have to go get your hand saw to finish the job.
If you need a chain saw, buy a real gas-powered chain saw.

Remember the electric knife craze? This one was left over from that period. Serious power drop about 1/4 into use with a fresh battery charge, and takes about 6-8 hours on recharge to get going again. Buy the extra battery as your spare. With both, you will have enough for an evening of 10-12 4 in. diameter pieces, and by morning, one battery will be good to cut 5-6 new pieces to get your morning chill off! Huge waste of money. Get a gasoline engine saw!
