Black & Decker PI400AB 400 Watt Power Inverter

This inverter will only go up tp 80W throught your lighter port. My laptop runs at 89W. Couldnt use it for its intended use and outside of box didnot state this wattage limitation. Shame on Black and Decker!

This will not power my cordless drill battery charger. The charger draws only 95 watts and constantly go into error I will have to buy another brand I’ll be sure to check these reviews before I buy again

Works good in the meantime, after frying one i learned there is little or no overload protection. The fuse’s are soldered on so those damn customers wont try to replace them when they blow.
In the meantime though they work great otherwise then that avoid this piece of crap.

The product description states it supplies 400W continuous output but fails to mention that the manual states the cigarette lighter plug option will only provide 80W and the warning sticker on the cigarette lighter plug says not to exceed 60W. Nowhere on the product packaging or description is this limitation hightlighted. That said, I returned it. There are 400W continous inverters power from the cigarette lighter plug so if that is what you are after, this is not your product, but your product exists (Tripp-Lite makes one).

This inverter is junk and will forever tarnish my impression of the Black & Decker brand, this model is essentially built to fry itself and become landfill. I accidentally reversed the leads in the dark, that was the end. The unit is designed to avoid lawsuits, not to be serviced, by the owner or the repair center. The fuses are heavily soldered to the board, the other innards look cheap and very fragile. Beware.
