I purchased this product for a considerable sum on 9/20/09. It recently quit working altogether, right after the 30 day return-for-any reason warranty period. The clickfree website and the warranty is a joke. Customer service is only available during the work week, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. east coast time. No Weekend support. Since I live in Alaska they’re 4 hours ahead of me. So zero support during any of my off work hours. DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT. If I could have given it a zero rating I would have.

Clickfree backup works as advertised. It is easy to install. It works — i back up once a week — easily upon connecting it to the hard drive via usb cable. The search for new files and their back up takes only a minute or so. The resulting file display shows files new to backup since the last one, which is a great feature to use to make sure that important things are backed up. I rate the product highly and recommend it.

I found the 1 TB Clickfree Ext harddrive to be very easy to set up and use. I am only moderately competent when it comes to using computers and computer related accessories. I took it out of the box, plugged it into the outlet, plugged it into the USB port and it did the rest. It’s very fast; since the initial use, it has taken less than a minute to complete following backups. I only have the one desktop CPU but it’s supposed to be able to backup 3 computers. I’m happy with it.

The claims in the product description that “there’s no software to install” are false. You do have to install software, and the drive only runs off of that software–it does not interact with Windows Explorer like other drives do. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have purchased this product, because the idea that using it “couldn’t be easier” couldn’t be further from the truth. Seems to do its job ok so far, though.

I have three personal ClickFree units and ordered three for my department at the University of Minnsota. This is the most amazing electronic produce I have ever purchased.
