I bought this and it does not work. I plugged it in and nothing happened. I tried their trouble shooting tricks and still nothing happened. Of course, I thought I’d made a mistake, so I went through the procedure again. Still nothing. I got a message that said the disk drive could not be fragmented. Ok, so now I am packing this device back up and sending it on it’s way. I’ll spend my money on something that works.

I purchased this exact same unit from QVC (at a much higher price), and it didn’t work. Since then, QVC has discontinued selling this product. Very disappointed, since this seemed like an easy answer to transferring data from my old PC to the new one.

After receiving the product i’ve spent over 2 weeks trying to get it to work on my wifes computer, no support from the company and it’s just a hassle. Wish I bought a HARD DRIVE and just backed up the files myself, I would not recommend this product.

First id like to say, I’ve never left a negative review, this is the first. We bought this piece of junk to back up our business data, we had 39 gigs of data, the most important of which was our quickbooks, this device would not reregister quickbooks not only that it kept us from reinstalling it because it was not in add remove programs and we were unable to uninstall from the drive, it would not reregister any programs that needed to be reregistered, it did restore text files and non registered programs. iv used ghost for years and never had this kind of disaster, our quickbooks data was restored from a flash drive. after reformatting xp and installing programs one at the time. 2 and a half days of trying to restore from this worthless, less than useless piece of junk. Oh its easy to use, it just doesn’t work! or didn’t for us, let your concience be your guide.

12-9-09 – Just received this Clickfree Automatic Backup 250Gb yesterday (12-8-09). My computer is a Dell Dimension 8250 running Windows XP Pro, SP3 with two 60Gb hard drives. Plugged this unit in as instructed.
After a few minutes I received an error message telling me that there was a problem and I needed to contact technical support. Haven’t tried yet this AM but they weren’t available last night when I was trying to backup my system.
About 9:00 AM – Talked with Storage Appliance Corp. technical support (Storage Appliance Corp. is the maker of the Clickfree Automatic Backup unit) and, after checking a few things, they tell me that the unit is not getting enough power. The unit is powered through the USB connection and even though there is a duplicate connector on the supplied USB connector cable (looks like a skinny, two headed snake) in case your PC does not provide enough power through one connection, the instructions tell you to connect the other one. At this point, this unit has proved to NOT be ClickFree.
The Clickfree Automatic Backup unit does not come with an external power source so Storage Appliance Corp. technical support has arranged to send one to me at no cost.
At about 9:26 AM I received an email from the ClickFree Store confirming the order of the 5V power adapter.
12-11-09 Today I received an email advising me that the order has shipped.
12-14-09 Received the power adapter this afternoon and plugged it in. The blue lights on the Clickfree came on but nothing happened so I contacted Storage Appliance Corp. technical support again. After going through what seemed to be a script, the tech suggested a reboot.
After rebooting and plugging the Clickfree Automatic Backup unit in again, nothing happened so I activated the “explore” function on “My Computer” and found the Clickfree drive and the .exe file that is supposed to automatically run. Only after double clicking on that program did the backup begin. So, the process is NOT really clickfree.
The backup process began by scanning the computer and then copying the files. Part way through an error message “Clickfree Automatic Backup has encountered a problem and needs to close.” The window behind that message seemed to be indicating that something was happening so I carefully moved the error message window out of the way (being careful to not click on the “cancel” button) so I could see what was happening. It appeared as if the backup was continuing so I just let it continue.
When it looked like the process had stopped, I clicked on the “cancel” button on the error message and the Clickfree Automatic Backup windows all disappeared. Since it appeared as if the backup had completed in spite of the error message, I “explored” the Clickfree Automatic Backup unit. A quick perusal of the files (about 6 subfolders below the root) indicated that the folders from both my C: and D: drives have been backed up.
The fact that an error message appeared plus the fact that I had to manually begin the backup process still bothers me but I believe my files are backed up. I still have to repeat the process on my wife’s laptop so after that has been done I will report on the results.
