What a deal this is. I received it and it started right up and we used it all day with no problems. I love the gas homelite trimmer. I may buy another one as backup so i will have it for many years to come. I can't live without it now. My hedges are too far away for an extention cord. Plus i'm not going to drag out the portable genny to run an electric hedge trimmer. This is the way to go.

Started a couple times and of course let it sit for a while. So I put in fresh gas, took out the spark plug and sprayed carb cleaner in, still nothing. So I'm off to buy another one that has a better reputation.

The packaging for this product was TOTALLY INADEQUATE !!!! The supplier simply placed the unit into a cardboard box, sealed it, and shipped it without materials to prevent it from movement within the box. The unit bounced around inside the box throughout shippment. By the time it arrived, the cutter had protruded through the packaging and was bent from impact in shippment. I was able to somewhat straighten out the cutter but its life will be limited due to wear from it not being completly straight. You should replace the cutter blade and guide with new ones free of charge!!

My Homelite came in factory packaging and looked like a charm upon delivery. In fact, it started up immediately; one pull on the cord and away it went. It cut through 1/4" branches like butter, was easy to handle, had little vibration, and had enormous power. That was the good part. After the first use it's been nothing but trouble. It takes at least 30 pulls to get it started. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes and try it again while my arm heals. When it finally kicks in it wants to sputter in the "Run" position. You have to feather the throttle switch to keep it alive. I have a feeling that all of the warnings about the bad choke design should have been heeded. Bummer.
