Promised by “Q4 2008″ but I am not going to hold my breath for it given all the other negative review about performance. What a bummer, cause the 305 is ugly, but I guess I’ll stick with it cause it works.

I’ve had my 405 since May 2008, and although the bezel interface still gives me problems. I love this watch/GPS, and have bought the hearthrate monitor and footpod accessories.
The watch is a good fit, and gives excellent feedback on my performance when running. I’ve tried the Nike/iPod system and others (fitsense), but the Forerunner 405 is the best yet.

It is not very friendly. You have to re charge as if it were a mobile phone, the touch screen does not work very efficiently. I regret I bought it.

The 405 works very well. Been using the 405 for a month and no problems so far. Have not been able to sync with my computer yet. Not sure if its a software fault or a user problem. The 405 is pricy but worth the money.

Cool technology, Integration with Garmin Connect and the other Garmin kit that I have.
Lots of good, useful features.
Cons:
Watch band is a little stiff (Duh- GPS thing inside).
Battery life when using GPS & HRM is about 6 hours.
Not that I can workout for 6 hours but if you forget to turn the GPS off eventually time will stop. Well for the watch at least.
Summary:
For Papa’s day I got a Garmin 705 bike computer. I have had a couple other HRMs and really didn’t like the Polar RS120 ( 1 really annoying “feature” – watch couldn’t tell time when running).
So getting the 405 seemed like a good extension of my current gear.
I’ve run and biked with it and am really happy with the purchase and the whole setup.
The watch face is kinda like an iPod for control but a little touchy. Just have to be gentle.
The ANT+ stuff works, the Garmin Connect stuff works and overall this is a great piece of gear.
I still have to try out a few other features and will update this review when that is accomplished.
