I bought the Nextar at Kmart. When I turn on the GPS the system show I am in California when I live in New York. I couldn’t receive any GPS signal called up Customer service on a Thursday she said hopefully by Monday they have GPS system working. Wednesday came along still wasn’t working. I work in the EMS system. Having a reliable GPS is crucial to getting to a patient. DONT Purchase the Nextar you will be highly disappointed. You don’t have too many choices of settings. Worst GPS system ever made.

It worked okay for a couple weeks, but then the touch screen stopped working properly. Buttons were constantly being activated when I was not touching the screen, even after I tried recalibrating it. This made it basically unusable.
It’s past the retailer’s 30-day warranty, so I guess I’ll soon find out about Nextar’s customer service and warranties.

This is easy to use, and is fine for the first year. Then the cost of upgrading the maps exceeds the cost of the unti. Buy one of the more expensive uints with free map upgrades, it’ll be cheaper in the long run.

Bought this GPS NexTar Q4 at OfficeMax (do not buy electronics there either you will not get customer support at all). In 3 months had to change 2 units. With OfficeMAx extra warranty cannot exchange to 3 unit. Manufacture has funky process. You have to register on site and then you will get customer ID in 24-48 hours(do not know why). Only then you can call them an ask for any assistance. This manufacturer will not cover shipping. You will have to ship it yourself and they require include $25 certified check or money order. So total replacement will cost you around $40 – $50 (depends how cheaply you can ship GPS to them and hopefully you can get money order for free). Never buy anything from Nextar unless you like bad product and bad support. Just go Garmin or TomTom.

Stopped working on first trip, no GPS signal. Only went a few blocks and it quit working and no matter what I do, reset and power off and on, has no GPS signal. I would not recommend the Nextar GPS at all. Useless after just a few blocks during first trip. Two thumbs down.
