Wanted something to back up my files before I send in my Macbook– 250GB is enough for my pictures, media files, documents. I know you can buy other hard-drives, usually formatted for Windows, and re-format them for Macs, but I wanted it to be easy. This Seagate drive is useable right out of the box– comes with a USB connection and you just connect it. It’s pretty streamlined, feels pretty sturdy in the hand, didn’t run hot or whirl loudly when I used it today (about 5 hours). Took about an hour to transfer 80GB.
I didn’t rate its reliability– crosses fingers!!!– because I’ve only had it for a day, but my Mac’s hard drive, which I replaced, is also a Seagate and it’s lasted me 3 years so far.
