I was at a high-end retailer and came across this exact whisk (except the balls are red instead) and was amazed by the quality. I previously had 2 whisks: 1 all metal balloon whisk that was pretty good but couldn’t be used in some of my non-stick pans. And the 2nd was a nonstick balloon whisk that bent so much and put strain on your wrist we never used it. They were both cheapies! Once I picked up this whisk and realized it had ZERO flex, was sturdy, and had silicone (non stick compatible) balls, I knew it was mine, once I got over the price.

It’s dishwasher safe (or before I got a dishwasher I quickly rinsed it off under my faucet’s sprayer) and it cleaned up nicely. (Balloon whisks are a pain to clean!)

Because of it’s stiffness, it works very well. I used it to get the last bits of pancake batter out of a cup measurement. And air easily gets through the open ball design so it makes whisking a breeze.

I never heard of this brand before ‘WMF’ but ignore the name, it’s A+ quality. Did I mention besides being 100% functional it also looks great too?!

I am amazed it’s not more popular on Amazon, probably the price. Not to up-sell you, but in this category, you get what you pay for. I love mine!!

I admit it…I’m forever looking for a better whisk. My previous favorite was the “ball inside a wire ball inside a wire whisk” version. It did a fine job of mixing, but liquids would splash out of the bowl, and solids (like turkey giblets) would get trapped inside the cages—and sometimes the inside ball would come out and have to be rescued from the gravy pan. The search for a better whisk began again recently when my husband made barbecue sauce, vigorously mixing it to the point that I thought I might have to repaint the kitchen.

A few days later, Amazon offered a special deal on small kitchen gadgets. I wanted to get some silicone spatulas, and when I was searching for them, this whisk popped up. It’s a bit pricey, but I finally decided to try one.

    The great things about it:

    a) REALLY simple design–nowhere food can get trapped.

    b) Silicone tips allow it to be used in Teflon pans at high temps (or in a delicate bowl), without damaging the surface.

    c) Doesn’t splash; does a great job of mixing—fast.

    d) Totally dishwasher-safe and easy to clean.

    e) By squeezing the wires together, I can fit it into a mushroom soup can, spin it to mix the bits in the bottom with milk, and actually empty the can completely. If you don’t eat mushroom soup, this will mean nothing to you, but I LOVE that!

I also use a whisk in my ceramic studio for mixing up glazes (not the same one, of course) because they’re less messy than my drill/mixer combo. After using the first one of these in the kitchen for a few weeks, I ended up buying a second for the studio.

And I’ll be ordering a couple more for gifts!

Update 11/28/08: Used this yesterday for whisking flour into the turkey gravy. It did the job quickly & efficiently, and without making a mess.
